Sustainability and Eco-Friendly Initiatives
What Kind of Planet Will We Leave for Future Generations?
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), around 40% of the global population suffers from allergies, and cancer cases are expected to rise by 60% over the next two decades. A key contributor to these health challenges is the extensive use of artificial ingredients and harmful chemicals in everyday products, including:

  • Cosmetics,
  • Cleaning products,
  • Food preservatives.
The Issues
Here are some examples of harmful, unnecessary ingredients and unethical practices:
Microplastics
Many mass-market cosmetic brands use microplastics to create a smoother feel on the skin. However, this effect is only superficial. Microplastics are a major environmental contaminant, accumulating in water sources, the air, and food we consume, including fish, seafood, and sea salt. WHO has expressed concern over the health risks associated with microplastics, especially given their growing presence in ecosystems and food chains.
Parabens
Used as preservatives in cosmetics, parabens are derived from petroleum and extend product shelf life. Despite their popularity, WHO has highlighted concerns that parabens can accumulate in the body, potentially disrupting hormonal balance and raising the risk of health conditions, including breast cancer.
Synthetic fragrances
Often added to mask unwanted odors or enhance a product's scent, synthetic fragrances can trigger allergic reactions and skin irritation. The WHO warns that long-term exposure to certain synthetic chemicals, including fragrances, may have serious health consequences.
Animal testing
Testing cosmetics and cleaning products on animals is a significant ethical issue. These practices often subject animals to painful testing, leading to severe suffering or death. WHO supports alternatives to animal testing as part of its global initiative to advance ethical and sustainable health practices.
*Many companies still test their products on animals.
